Bio

Jesper K. Markvart primarily works with competition law, including Danish and international cartel cases. He e.g. provides assistance in connection with inspections by authorities, settlement negotiations with authorities, litigation before the ordinary courts as well as the proceedings before the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority or NSK. He also assists in compensation cases where one or more companies have suffered a loss because of a competition law violation.

Jesper K. Markvart regularly advises Danish and international companies on the conclusion and assessment of vertical agreements, including selective and exclusive distribution, as well as on horizontal agreements such as specialisation agreements, research and development agreements, and joint purchasing and commercialisation agreements.

Furthermore, Jesper K. Markvart advises both dominant companies and victims of dominant companies on issues such as pricing, discounts, and refusal to supply.

He also assists companies in preparing compliance programmes to proactively ensure that the company avoids competition law problems in the future as well as on competition issues in connection with the acquisition and sale of companies.

Finally, Jesper K. Markvart regularly advises public authorities and private companies on the possibilities of granting and receiving state aid and municipal aid as well as advice in connection with investigations and complaints. In addition, he advises complainants who are disadvantaged by a competitor’s receipt of aid.

Jesper K. Markvart is Head of Focus Advokater’s Contract Law Department.
